On June 28, official Spinning facilities across the country will simultaneously conduct four consecutive one-hour classes with the goal of raising $1 million to benefit a trio of charities. The event, dubbed Spinning Nation, is the first-ever nationwide Spinning fundraising event.
Instructors and riders alike are required to raise a minimum of $250 in order to participate in the event. Money raised will be split evenly between the Prostate Cancer Foundation, the AIDS Research Alliance and the Cancer Shmancer Movement.
The Prostate Cancer Foundation works to attain better treatments and a cure for prostate cancer. The AIDS Research Alliance is a leader in independent research on the disease. The Cancer Shmancer Movement, founded by actress Fran Drescher, is dedicated to ensuring that all women’s cancers be diagnosed at an early stage, when they are most curable.
Riders may register for as many of the four sessions as they like, but they must raise $250 for each one. When they reach their fundraising goals, they will receive a Spinning Nation T-shirt, jersey, bike shorts and an official Spinning bag.
